Project: Custom Beaded Bookmark

This is a perfect activity for a book club, library group, or book shop. I’ll bring a variety of beads, charms, tassels, tools, and other supplies as well as knowledge and experience.

We’ll walk through the steps to make a bookmark and share tips about composition and construction.

Each attendee will be able to create as many beaded bookmarks as they like in the time allotted.

Friendship Bracelet Frenzy

Project: Beaded Friendship Bracelets

Who doesn’t love a friendship bracelet? You’ll feel like a kid again making, giving or trading these with your friends.

This is a fun activity for attendees of all ages and skill levels. I’ll provide a variety of beads including letters and numbers as well as elastic thread for stringing them. We’ll go over some tips and tricks for designing and finishing bracelets.

Each attendee will be able to create as many friendship bracelets as they like in the time allotted.

Spin Your Own Yarn

You and your friends will enjoy learning this ancient craft. People have been spinning yarn with drop spindles for thousands of years. The tools are simple, but the product is incredibly beautiful. It’s also a very meditative and relaxing activity. I’ll bring the fiber in the form of blended art batts or roving. Each participant will get a drop spindle and 4 ounces of fiber to keep, as well as written instructions. We’ll go over how to get started and spin through some of the common problems. We’ll also talk about how to ply and finish your yarn once you’re done.

  • If you’ve never crocheted before, this is the perfect project to get you started. We’ll use cotton yarn to crochet some simple coasters. You’ll get the satisfaction of quickly finishing one coaster, and take home enough yarn to complete the set. Plus you’ll get the added practice of repetition. And you’ll have a handy set of coasters for your home. I’ll bring a variety of colors of 10% cotton yarn to work with, so your group can choose the colors that work for them.

  • Whether you make it for yourself or someone you care about. This beanie is a great winter accessory. It’s also a great way to learn some basic crochet stitches and finishing techniques.   • Protect your paperbacks with a book sleeve. We’ll make a classic granny square, a common crochet motif, and join the corners to make the sleeve. Then we’ll add the trim and tie. We’ll practice the basic stitches and shaping, and go over some tips for amigurumi. Circular Woven Wall Hanging

You and your friends can let your creativity shine with this fun class. I will show you how to warp an embroidery hoop, and some tapestry weaving techniques to get you started. You and your friends can dive into my yarn and fiber stash to create whatever weaves strike your fancy. You decide the colors textures and pattern. I’ll bring the supplies. It’s so much fun to see what folks create.
